I tested Office365/MFA with MacOs native email application (3 Oct 2018) and found I could not use the native email application with MFA. By enabling MFA in my Office365 account, I am given opportunity to get an app password for non-Microsoft applications to use, but MacOs Mail does not--for me at least--successfully use it to connect. I continually get an exception message indicating that the Mail application cannot verify account name or password. When I turn off MFA and (at least) restart the email application (sometimes restarting the machine is necessary to clear out whatever cruft is present), I can use my Office365 with a native application without problem. I note that I can successfully use MFA on iOS devices, just not MacOS native applications (mail specifically).

The native Mail app on iOS 11.x+. For Office 365 via DAG includes a Basic Auth option that allows users accessing Office 365 from clients that do not support Modern Auth to still log in using only their AD username and password. Ensure that users logging in with basic authentication through Duo are not also required to complete Azure MFA.
These passive, or modern auth, clients work well with MFA as the authentication happens in a web browser. Active clients like Mac mail are simply not able to support MFA. Given that Apple added modern authentication capabilities to iOS 11, I'm hopeful that we'll see it added to Mac mail as well! Prior to enabling MFA we would configure the mailboxes as IMAP, however that seems to not work now. This procedure for adding the shared mailbox through webmail doesn't seem to work, though I know we can open the mailbox using the shared mailbox link (at least on a PC), haven't yet tried it on mobile.
I CAN use Microsoft Outlook on MacOS with and without MFA. I can use MFA with Google accounts in Mail. Just not Microsoft. And this problem appears to have existed for quite some time (since 2H2017, maybe before). Does Apple intend to address this problem? It does appear to be a known issue.. well known, even..
Thanks

For Individual/Personal Computers
IMPORTANT: Do not try to install the SAASPASS Connector Lite if you already have the SAASPASS Mac Computer Connector version installed on your Mac.
With SAASPASS Connector Lite you can log into all your supported applications with iBeacon and Multi-factor Authentication without any manual typing or remembering username/passwords! Secure single sign-on (SSO) is supported.
The SAASPASS secure login has also solved the headache of remembering passwords for supported services and also made it much easier to use compared to legacy Multi-factor Authentication solutions in the market.
